Pinterest

I was introduced to Pinterest a while ago, but it wasn't until recently I received a invite to join the 'pinning world'; and I've been obsessed since. Actually, you can now call me the pinning queen because it seems that's all I do lately... sign in to Pinterest and pin my little heart out. For those of you who live a sheltered life and are not sure what Pinterest is, well you are missing out. It's basically a way to create mini inspiration boards of whatever your heart desires. Check out a few of mine here!

Spring Preview

With the London and New York fashion shows already underway this season, the colorful fabrics and edgy trends are bountiful to say the least; but not to be overlooked are the newest beauty trends. I've done the research, now all you have to do is wear the trends!

Diane von Furstenberg's makeup artists created neon pink lips using MAC Pro Pigment in Magenta Madness & MAC Pro Chromagraphic pencil in Process Magenta. MAC's Pro Pigment can be used as eye-shadow, lipstick or blush, and if you haven't checked it out yet I suggest you get your hiney to the MAC counter.

Coral hues were also flooding the runways. Whether found on your eyescheekslips or nails, it's probably a good idea to invest in some coral makeup!

Deep purple eyeshadow ruled the runway at the Jason Wu show. This also just happens to be my favorite color, so I will definitely be working this trend this spring.

Root Problems

If you color you hair, which most ladies do, you understand how annoying it can be to look at those awful roots. Since my hair is blonde at the moment, my 'root problem' occurs more often. Celebrity hair stylist and colorist Rita Hazen totally understands our problem ladies, and has created a root coloring spray that can be used daily until you make it to your colorist to permanently fix your 'root problem'. Although I have not tried this product yet, I love the idea of fooling my eyes and yours to believe I have freshly colored roots. If you happen to check it out before me, tell me what you think!

Five Happy Things

Today was 74 and breezy and I was in heaven. Beautiful weather means windows down and music up, which makes everyone smile. So since it has been a smiley kind of day, here are a few things that are making my smile!

My current nail polish, Essie Lilacism. This lavender-gray color makes me long for Spring.

My homemade trail mix which is made of dry roasted almonds, peanuts, dried cranberries, and pieces of dark chocolate.

My new nude pumps that I'm beyond obsessed with.

I'm not a huge fan of vanilla because it can be so overpowering, but this body wash mixed with blackberry scents is perfect.

My pearl headband that I can throw on to make any type of hair day a good one.

Lemons & Tangerines

As I discussed here citrus hues are the go-to colors for spring, and I have slowly been looking for key pieces and accessories to add to my wardrobe. Just a few days ago Ginnifer Goodwin was spotted carrying one of these lovely handmade clutches by Mary Nichols, which of course I lusted over. With its cool pleated detail and detachable gold chain, how could you not want to carry this beauty with you on your next night out?! Although the price is a tad high for my budget I will undoubtedly be looking for a similar find at my regular discount stores!

Rosie Posie

When listing my favorite beauty finds here and here, I sometimes forget to mention things I have been in love with for years. Smith's Rosebud Salve has been around since 1895 and is probably the cheapest beauty staple everyone should have in their make-up bag. This multi-purpose salve can be used for just about anything, including (are you ready for this?) dry lips, as a lip gloss, dry cuticles, fly aways along your hairline, smoothing eye brow hairs, an eye-shadow base, burns, dryness around blemishes, dry skin on elbows, knees and ankle, and a highlighter for the face and shoulders to achieve that perfect dewy look. Whew! I mean really, do you need anything else?! Well maybe you do, but this stuff is A-mazing and with a price point of $6 it won't clean your pockets!

Forever Brown

I showed you my new blonde hair in this post here, but after just a few weeks I'm already ready to go back to the dark side. Well, not too dark, just ready for the light color to disappear. Although I have been a brunette all my life, I find it hard to find the perfect shade for my skin. Below are a few photos I'll be taking to my next visit to the salon.

Best. Foundation. Ever.

I've discovered the best foundation ever. I'm not even joking about this, and I'm elated to share this wonderful news! I shared here in this post about my love for Bare Minerals, and they have exceeded my expectations once again with the introduction of Bare Minerals Matte. This foundation is a dream come true for oily skin folks. My hairstylist enlightened me about this new product and I immediately made a trip to ULTA to find my shade. I truly recommend waiting in the unreasonably long line to find your true shade of foundation; it's well worth it. After trying about 3 different shades, I purchased the Fair shade along with BM concealer in Bisque. In the morning I apply a light liquid concealer followed by a spot treatment of bisque, and then I finish up with the Fair matte foundation. In the winter I try to stray away from bronzer, but instead I add a swipe of blush to give my cheeks an, ever so slight, color.

Carolina Blonde

"Oh my God, what have I done" were my exact words yesterday as my hairdresser pulled the towel off my head. Ladies and Gents, I have never been this blonde in my entire life, so you can imagine, I went into a slight shock. I am still adjusting to the new 'do' I have, but I'm not so sure it will stay around long, so I had to post a picture as proof that I once was a blonde!

P.S. Yes, I am sporting a jersey; a Pittsburgh Steelers jersey, as a matter of fact. It is the only one I own and proudly support the black and yellow.

Top Five Beauty Finds

A couple weeks ago I shared a post on my top five beauty finds. Since then, I have discovered a few more items that I'm slightly obsessed over. Here are a few of my January favorites.

This cucumber gel masque from Peter Thomas Roth is a great hydrator. It helps to tone down irritation, especially during the harsh winter months, and is great when applied right before a work-out.

Rusk Thickr hairspray is great for fine hair girls like myself. It adds a perfect amount of texture for a blowout and helps keep style all day long.

This isn't really a new beauty favorite. It's been one of my favorite drugstore exfoliants for years now. St. Ives Apricot Scrub has a refreshing scent and it leaves my skin feeling baby smooth. I believe it works best when used before my face wash.

Bare Minerals and I have been friends for years now. It works great for my oily skin, which by the way has suddenly decided to become a oil/dry combination skin which has me very flustered! If you are interested in trying Bare Minerals I suggest visiting a Bare Minerals store and let the professionals help you decide what color is right for you. I promise you will not regret it!

Best. curling iron. ever. I'm not joking. This Hot Tools iron works great with my fine, and sometimes, limp, lifeless hair. The temperature rises to above 430 degrees, which will help keep those curls full of life all day!

P.S. Katie from I'm Just Sayin': I will post a picture of the contents of my bag once I find the time to clean it out and make sure the post is worthwhile!  xx

Five Favorite Beauty Finds (for now)

My favorite beauty products tend to change according to the seasons. There are so many great products out there, but it's better to try them in small doses. Above, I have a few of my winter beauty favorites including exfoliation gloves, which are crucial during the dry winter months, and my favorite mask, which helps tame break-outs. Dermalogica's Oil Control Lotion is extremely lightweight for those who tend to have oily skin, and Jemma Kidd's belle du jour lipstick is the perfect nude color. Lastly, Miss Dior Cherie is a delightfully fresh fragrance I have just stumbled upon. I have been very faithful to Coco Chanel Mademoiselle for many years, so for me to branch out and try something new is a big step!

1. DDF Sulfur Therapeutic Mask $38

2. The Body Shop Bath Gloves $5

3. Jemma Kidd belle du jour Lipstick $16

4. Miss Dior Cherie $59

5. Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion $37
