Royal Fashion

I know this is such a predictable post, but the gowns were too beautiful to not talk about! So let's discuss, shall we? Kate Middleton chose an Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton gown for her wedding dress. It was a gorgeous sweetheart neckline with lace overlay that continued into the long sleeves. The skirt was full with an 8.8 ft train. The Queen let her borrow a Cartier tiara, in which her parents gave her matching Cartier earrings. So fabulous!

Kate's reception dress was just as beautiful as the first chosen gown. The satin gown with beaded detail was also a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen design which she complemented with a white fur cropped cardigan.

Kate's sister, and maid of honor, Pippa's dress was almost as lovely as Kate's wedding dress. Also, an Alexander McQueen design, the dress had cleaned lines and slightly fish-taled out at the bottom. With lace detail on the sleeves and neckline, and buttons down the back this dress will definitely set a trend for future brides.

The guests did not disappoint with their fancy and sometimes outrageous hats.

French Affair

Eek! New favorite alert!! If you've followed my blog at all you know that I'm in love with Essie nail polish. I'm always searching for new colors to add to my ridiculously enormous collection and my newest addition is French Affair. It may look like a regular pale pink, but when applied to your nails it has the slightest lavender hue. Check it, lovies.

Much A-do About Royalty

I'm not sure if you've been on the planet Earth the past six months, but if you have I'm sure you've heard at least a snippet about the Royal wedding that is to occur this weekend. Growing up Princess Diana was my idol, and I was certain that one day I would meet her and then would marry Prince William (Princess Elizabeth sounds marvelous to me). Well things certainly didn't turn out they way I once thought as a little girl, but I still find myself fascinated with all that is royal. I will be up bright and early to watch the wedding with English tea, and maybe some sort of English breakfast menu (stay tuned) to watch the wedding of century; And of course to investigate all the fashion to be seen.

Weekend Lessons

source

What I learned this weekend: I love French Connection, sundried tomatoes are my favorite vegetable, anything Ina Garten of Barefoot Contessa makes is absolutely fantastic*, always apply sunscreen to your back when washing your car... always, a far away friend can always make my day through a simple text message, I will never be too old for dyeing eggs or Easter Egg hunts, peanut butter and chocolate will always and forever be my favorite combination, and I should own more pastel colored items.

Wheel

Have you ever heard a song that stops you dead in your tracks and forces you to listen? This song is an old one, but I never tire of hearing it. And no matter what I do, I can never concentrate on anything else, but the lyrics.

Pumpkin & Chocolate Chip Pancakes

source

This past weekend consisted of terrifying storms, peaceful rain, and good laughs with friends. My lovely sister came home this weekend to work on her senior capstone paper, which is probably one of the most stressful papers to ever accomplish. Since the school rarely provides her with ‘home cooked’ meals, I decided to make her breakfast on Saturday morning. The morning was gloomy and reminded me of fall, and longed for something warm with hints of spice. After scouring the pantry I found some pumpkin puree and milk chocolate chips, which must be used together. I used this recipe to create fluffy* pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes that melted in your mouth. I highly recommend you try this recipe, because who says pumpkin is only for the cooler months?!

*The key to fluffy pancakes is to leave the batter lumpy with bubbles. Just fold together the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients until just combined, no more than that. Enjoy!

Honey, Honey

Although, I’m terrified of bees and every other type of insect, I find this honeycomb cake pan adorable. The pan comes with a Honey-Almond cake mix that looks divine; the only thing that would complete the cake would be some sort of sugary glaze. Yum-O. I have been in a baking mood lately, which isn’t ideal since bikini season is right around the corner. Only if desserts didn’t have calories!
